How to worship on Diwali (Deepawali), Timing, Muharat & Vidhi 2017

 

Diwali (Dīvali, Dīpāwali, Deepavali, Dipabali) is a festival of lights symbolizing the victory of righteousness and the lifting of spiritual darkness. The word “Deepawali” refers to rows of diyas, or clay lamps. This is one of the most popular festivals in the Hindu calendar.

Lakshmi Puja Muhurta = 19:26 to 20:25

Puja Samagri

  1. One Roli
  2. Some Akshat which is raw full grain rice
  3. One Puja ki Thali
  4. One Flower Garland
  5. Few Dhoop sticks
  6. Some Scent
  7. A Photo or an Idol of Goddess Lakshmi with Lord Ganesha and Goddess Saraswati
  8. A big piece of Red cloth
  9. A small Chawki
  10. Some Supari
  11. Some Coriander seeds
  12. Some Cotton seeds
  13. Some Lotus Flower Seeds
  14. Some Dry whole Turmeric
  15. One Silver coin
  16. Few Sweets
  17. Some currency notes of any denomination

 

Puja Vidhi

  1. Assemble all the articles in one place.
  2. Place the chawki where you normally perform your puja. You then need to spread the red cloth over it.
  3. Place the Photo or an Idol of Goddess Lakshmi with Lord Ganesha and Goddess Saraswati.
  4. Now place three heaps of the raw rice in front of the photo or the idol for  Lord Vishnu, Kuber and Indra.
  5. Then you need to light a lamp and start the puja. Once the puja is done, the flame of the lamp should not be extinguished. This lamp should be lit overnight. You also need to lit dhoop sticks with it.
  6. Put tilak of akshat and roli on the forehead of Lord Ganesha & pray to come and remove all obstacles
  7. Then you need to start the Lakshmi Puja. You need to put a tilak of rice and roli on the forehead of Goddess Lakshmi.
  8. Then you need to pray to Lord Vishnu, Lord Kuber and Lord Indra to arrive along with Goddess Lakshmi. This will bring wealth and prosperity to the house.
  9. Then you need to worship Goddess Saraswati. You need to put tilak and akshat on the forehead of Goddess Saraswati.
  10. The last part will be the Lakshmi Arti.
